Super Tourist |
|
The
Aravis Super Tourist (expedition bikes) are built onto a Reynolds
631 double butted, compact style touring frame, the top tube
slopes back 6cm on this design of frame. The 17" size frames
are a good choice for a tiny person with short legs, who has
trouble finding a touring frame small enough to fit. They are
also an excellent choice for long distance touring with loaded
panniers. Now equipped with Tektro CR720 cantilever brakes there is
enough clearance for wide mudguards and 700 x 32 or 37mm tyres,
which give a softer more cushioned ride. They are fitted with a
48 or x 36 x 26 triple chainset and 11 to 28 or 32
cassettes, the wider tyres and wide range of gears ensure that
the bike will cope well when ridden on tarmac road or rough loose
surface tracks. |

Specified
with dropped handlebars, but also available with straight mountain
bike style bars and Shimano rapid fire gear levers, for people who
prefer this type of set up. This bike makes a good replacement for
an old Dawes Galaxy and it is the best option for any cyclist who
looking to purchase a modern style touring bike with good quality
components. |

|
Aravis Retro Tec Super Touring bikes are fitted with
8 speed downtube gear levers and standard brake levers, to
create a bike that is cheap and easy to maintain as well as
providing a large saving on the initial purchase price. As the
name suggests it is the basic bicycle technology that we all
used to know and love before the advent of STI gears systems two
decades ago. They also have standard cartridge bearing bottom
brackets, with square tapered axles that are easy to replace. Retro
Tec leading the return to simple bicycle technology.

At
the beginning of 2010 we introduce a second line in touring /
commuting bikes, that are built onto an Aravis aluminium cyclo
cross frame with carbon fibre front forks to produce a lighter
bike, that can be used as a touring or commuting or a general
purpose utility bike. They will be available with dropped handle
bars or straight flat handlebars just the same as the Super
Tourist models.

| Over the last
twenty six years the owners of this shop, have road tested this
type of bike, touring many areas of the UK & Europe with the
occasional venture to parts of the far east. Originally we used
dropped handlebars but have recently changed to straight bars for
a more relaxed position. We sometimes ride the Sustrans National
Cycle Network and find straight bars make the bike more manageable
when riding rough gravel tracks.
